The Buzz Kiddy Distraction Study

As Aussie families across the nation hit the roads these holidays, road safety becomes an important issue for all of us.

Any sort of distraction that causes drivers to take their eyes off the road can be potentially dangerous.
A new study by online car insurer, The Buzz insurance found that Aussie parents have identified being distracted by their children while driving as a significant issue with one in five saying it has led to an accident or a ‘near miss’.

95% of Aussie parents have been distracted by their children when driving, 75% find driving with kids can be stressful and 40% have difficulty controlling their offspring in the car.

A worrying finding of the study was that nearly 30% of parents say they have turned around to talk to their kids in the back seat while driving.

The Buzz Kiddy Distraction Study – Keep ‘Em Occupied And Safe investigates to what degree having young children in the car distracts drivers, the annoying things kids do, the effect on parents and how mums and dads keep their offspring entertained while driving. Read the study in detail here.

This is a great piece of research, thanks Buzz. Even though my children are well past the 'are we there yet?' age, I remember it well as a driver. I also remember being put in my place on a long trip by a parent that was driving and reaching into the back seat at the same time! Love the new look Exchange by the way. Cheers
