Saving lives won the paramedic a car!
After much deliberation by the judges over thousands of entries, we're very pleased to announce our lucky winner of the Best 60 Seconds competition who'll drive away a brand new VW GOLF!
The winning entry "60 Seconds shapes a life" is a heart warming story by Peter - a paramedic who chose a career of saving lives, after a chance heroic act of saving his dad's mates' life. As a paramedic, he continues to change other people's lives, and give them their Best 60 Seconds.
The winning entry is:
60 Seconds shapes a life.
His heart stopped while driving and he crashed into a pole,
Poor diet and no exercise had taken certain toll.
I saw the whole thing happen and raced over to his car,
I pulled him out and laid him flat then started CPR.
His skin was turning purple and I hoped we weren't too late,
I then recognised the dying man - it was my father's mate.
Finally the ambulance came and shocked him back to being,
It all seemed like a nightmare but it's reality I was seeing.
Dad's mate made a recovery and came to shake my hand
I liked the helping feeling and it made my life less bland.
I'm now a paramedic and I help others when in need,
My life shaped in 60 seconds by one simple helpful deed.
